Jason Connell is a producer, filmmaker, podcaster, and entrepreneur whose career has been driven by a passion for storytelling, curiosity, and meaningful connection.
Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jason's love for film began at an early age when legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and a cast of future stars arrived in his hometown to film The Outsiders and Rumble Fish. Witnessing the excitement surrounding those productions sparked a lifelong fascination with cinema and storytelling.
In 2004, Jason moved to Los Angeles and soon began producing documentaries. His first feature, Strictly Background, spotlighted the lives of career movie extras pursuing their dreams in Hollywood and earned numerous awards. He would go on to produce ten documentaries, including Holy Rollers: The True Story of Card Counting Christians, which was featured on This American Life and The Colbert Report, and GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, which helped inspire Netflix's hit series GLOW.
Beyond filmmaking, Jason founded and directed The United Film Festival for twelve years. The festival expanded to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Tulsa, New York, and London, showcasing independent films and honoring industry veterans. The event was recognized by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the "25 Coolest Film Festivals" in the world.
In 2019, Jason launched Just Curious Media, an independent podcast company focused on creating entertaining and immersive audio experiences. The network has produced a variety of successful shows, including Let's Talk - Cobra Kai, which became the leading podcast dedicated to the Karate Kid and Cobra Kai universe, as well as That's A Crime and Into The Mystic: Tales From Hollywood East.
In 2024, Jason launched Good Thinking, a daily positive affirmation podcast dedicated to helping listeners begin each day with greater positivity, confidence, and purpose. Through short affirmations, reflections, and encouragement, the show has grown to more than 100,000 downloads across 475+ episodes and continues to reach listeners around the world.
Today, Jason creates and produces content from Los Angeles, California, where he continues to expand Just Curious Media and pursue projects that inspire, entertain, and uplift others.
